Leap of Faith was the third episode of Quantum Leap’s third season to air, with Sam taking on the role of a priest with a troubled colleague to protect. In this episode Gerry and Iain discuss whether kids should be hanging around in bars during the day.

Sam leaps into a clergyman, new to his parish, who works alongisde Father John McRoberts (Sandy McPeak). McRoberts has witnessed a murder committed by Tony Pronti (Danny Nucci). The only other witness has also since been murdered.
As McRoberts struggles to come to terms with the idea justice may not be served he ultimately tries to take matters into his own hands. Meanwhile Sam speaks with Tony’s young brother Joey (Davey Roberts) and seeks a peaceful resolution.
Leap of Faith was directed by James Whitmore Jr., the second of his fifteen directorial credits on the series. The script was by Tommy Thompson, his second of 13, from a story by Nick Harding, who would go on to sell one more to the show.
In this episode Gerry and Iain considered priestly behaviour.
